Brussels Pride Week starts on Wednesday, May 8, with an intersectional and militant event that will take place at the House of Cultures in Molenbeek from 3 p.m. and around the Suzan Daniel Bridge from 5:30 p.m. During Pride Week, Rainbow Corporate & Pride and other collectives present a program in ten venues in Brussels, including the Grands Carmes and RainbowHouse Brussels.

Sint-Jacobswijk

Concerts, screenings, performances and workshops will take place for ten days. Several meetings with European delegations will also take place. On Thursday, May 16, the Mini-Pride procession will pass through the streets of the Saint-Jacobs district to kick off the Brussels Pride weekend. The procession also passes Manneken Pis, who will wear his specially designed costume for the occasion.

All participants will also join a number of European delegations for a conference entitled ‘The Meaning of Prides’. During this conference other Prides in Europe will be highlighted and the impact of these types of events on society will be discussed.

Euro Pride

The Pride itself will take place on Saturday, May 18. The parade will depart from the Kunstberg through the capital from 2 p.m. As part of the Belgian presidency of the Council of Europe, Brussels Pride has invited the organizers of the Europride in Thessaloniki to participate in the march this year. In addition to the Europride float, various European delegations are also represented.

Various performances and DJ sets will take place on the stage on the Kunstberg, including MUSTII, Alice on the Roof, Gustaph, the dance trio Trinxx, AZO and RAQL.

‘Safer Zone’

To ensure that everyone can come to the event in the best conditions and in complete safety, Brussels Pride is deploying a Safer Pride system all day this year. In concrete terms, a Safer Zone will be set up on Albertinaplein, a quiet space where volunteers and trained professionals provide a listening ear and psychosocial or medical support if necessary. A mobile SACHA Care Team (Safe Attitude Against Harassment and Assault) will also be on the track.

Interested people can once again go to the Pride Village for information and awareness regarding the theme and the struggle of the LGBT community. About a hundred partners participate in the organization of Pride. In the week before Brussels Pride, many buildings in the Brussels Capital Region are illuminated and decorated in the colors of the rainbow flag.
