TikTokker Alexander Tseboyev (22), better known as ‘Good Boy’, was “mentally immature” when he extorted several minors at the end of 2022, according to his lawyer. De Wingenaar faced thirty months in prison, but got away with a hefty community service order. At his trial before the Bruges court, the twenty-year-old received a heavy blow from the judge.

On December 26, 2022, Alexander Tseboyev, Timerlan I. (21) from Tielten and an underage companion approached an underage boy in Wingene. He had to hand over his cigarettes and expensive coat, otherwise he would be stabbed. The perpetrators fled in the car of I’s mother. The police were able to catch them a little later with the loot. But they strongly denied that they threatened with a weapon.

Further investigation showed that Tseboyev – known as TikTokker ‘Good Boy’ – had also stolen a jacket at Tielt station in November 2022. And in the same period he had also extorted a minor on the train in Sint-Niklaas. On December 14, he struck at the Gent-Sint-Pieters station, where he and several associates robbed two underage girls of their money.

Behind bars

At the end of 2022, Tseboyev ended up in jail, but he was allowed to leave it after two months under conditions. However, at the beginning of this year he ended up behind bars again after a conflict with a train conductor between the stations of Ostend and Bruges. Last month, prosecutor Charlotte Vonck asked for an effective prison sentence of thirty months. “He didn’t take advantage of his opportunities,” she said. “In his own words, he takes pleasure in scaring others. That is very disturbing.”

Tseboyev strongly denied making such a statement, but apologized to the victims. “I am deeply ashamed of my parents and will never do this again,” he said. “When I get out, I want to get my diploma and do useful things.” The judge was not impressed. “What you did was not tough, but cowardly,” she fulminated. “You sowed terror among young people.”

Immature

Yet ‘Good Boy’ was allowed to sign for community service, to the satisfaction of his lawyer Filip De Reuse. He called the Public Prosecution Service’s claim severely exaggerated. “My client is still mentally immature,” he pleaded. “He may not be a nice boy, but I have clients that scare me more. The media has overhyped everything.”

One of the girls who was robbed in Ghent came to file a civil suit. During the oral arguments on March 25, she took a seat at the front and came face to face with Tseboyev for the first time since the facts. “I had only just turned fifteen and the exams had passed,” she addressed the TikTokker. “I wanted to go shopping until I met you. I was given 200 euros, but I had to hand it over. I walked in a wide arc around the station for a long time.”

The girl’s mother did not insist on a prison sentence for Tseboyev. “He is still young and needs help,” he said, surprisingly mildly. In her judgment, the judge took into account a previously imposed community service order of 50 hours for similar offenses in the same period. But she imposed 250 hours of additional community service on Tseboyev. If he does not carry it out correctly, he will receive 30 months in prison.

Timerlan I. gets away with 100 hours of community service. The court awarded the girl 200 euros in damages. Another victim was awarded 112 euros.
