Antwerp Mayor Bart De Wever (N-VA) will go to Berlin on Thursday for a meeting with German Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser (SPD). This is a conversation about tackling drug crime.

De Wever is accompanied by his fellow mayors of Rotterdam in the Netherlands (Ahmed Aboutaleb) and Hamburg in Germany (Peter Tschentscher), not coincidentally also major port cities. The Dutch State Secretary for Justice and Security Eric van der Burg (VVD) is also present.

According to the German Ministry of the Interior, central to the discussion is the intensification of cooperation between various security services in Europe to combat organized crime, but also agreements with South American source countries of narcotics. Strengthening port security is also on the agenda.
