A fire in a distribution center in Oss that has been raging since Friday morning is still not out. The fire only grew bigger during the evening. Around 11 p.m., about 250 firefighters from across the region worked to extinguish the fire.
Extinguishing takes so long because the seat of the fire is in a large cold room. Fire extinguishing water freezes, making it slippery and making it difficult for emergency services to do their work.
The fire brigade is also trying to prevent the fire from spreading to another company building. Five people who live around the distribution center spend the night elsewhere.
The smoke from the fire could be seen from tens of kilometers away last night. Images of the smoke clouds came from Nijmegen, almost thirty kilometers away, among others.

In and around Oss people have found flying particles in their garden or on the street, including from solar panels. The municipality of Oss warns that these can be sharp. It is recommended to wear gloves when cleaning up. Due to the particles and smoke development, farmers in the area are asked to keep their livestock indoors for the time being.
Sixty trucks were also caught in the smoke on the industrial estate where the fire raged. They drove to a parking lot near the Oss town hall during the night.
