A motorist was arrested in Belgian Limburg on Wednesday who has more than 6.2 million euros in outstanding fines. He could not pay the amount, so the police confiscated his car.

The motorist was caught during a large-scale traffic stop by the police in South Limburg, reports The Importance of Limburg. Checks were carried out in Hasselt, among other places.

Several police units took part in the action. Officials from customs and the Flemish tax authorities were also involved in the inspections.

In addition to the man with the sky-high amount of outstanding fines, thirteen other drivers were arrested. They were under the influence of drugs. Three people did not have a driver’s license, including someone with a lifelong driving ban. A total of seven vehicles were seized.
