A man in his twenties in northern Germany was arrested while transporting 84 kilograms of pickled peppers in a wheelbarrow. Officers said the 23-year-old was unable to provide “plausible information” about where he got the food

According to the police, the 23-year-old was stopped on a footpath in Bremerhaven on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday. The peppers were in several cans that the man transported in a wheelbarrow.

Officers said the 23-year-old was unable to provide “plausible information” about where he got the food from and where he went with it. The police therefore opened an investigation on suspicion of theft and started the search for the owner of the peppers.

Call

So far it is completely unclear where the large quantity came from, a police spokeswoman said. The peppers may have come from a catering business or a shop.

The police are calling on possible witnesses to come forward. The officers seized the peppers along with other items the 23-year-old had with him, including a sports bag, perfume and electronic devices.
