Latest dropout ‘De Mol’: “I felt it coming a bit”

--

The last dropout from The mole is known. Just before the final, De Mol had to leave the game and we are not talking about the saboteur of the season, but about Charlotte De Mol. So her last name did not reveal her role in the game.

Then there were still three of them. The finalists of The mole are known and therefore we also know the last dropout. Charlotte has the very unfortunate honor of having to leave the game just before the final.

Charlotte “from” The mole

In the first episode of the season we found out that Charlotte has a very striking last name. Her surname is really De Mol and that is something she has often been approached about in recent weeks. “The people who suspected me always gave my last name as one of the reasons. Surprisingly enough, my last name has changed in recent weeks. I was never addressed as Charlotte De Mol, but as Charlotte “van” The mole (laughs). For a bit
get used to it.”

Charlotte’s family and friends were also excited about her participation. “The reactions were fantastic,” he said. “I experienced everything so positively. The nicest comments from those close to me were that they thought I was 100 percent myself on TV, and I’m happy with that. I think all my friends, family and colleagues were in shock on Sunday night as they were all convinced I was going to win. Also because Vinnie and I bought an apartment together a while ago, but that had nothing to do with the prize money (laughs).”

Just before the final

Charlotte had to go home just before the final, but she is taking it well. “I felt it coming a little bit. In any case, you are left with the best players, so it is never a piece of cake in that phase. And of course there were also the passport questions that everyone except me had. I won’t know until next week what exactly set me off, but either way I was really bummed. I wish this adventure could have lasted weeks longer.”

But she has no regrets. “I never look at the past, so I certainly have no regrets. I probably could have played the last assignment at the table a bit smarter and better, but what happened, happened. By the way, that moment has become very important to me. My grandfather passed away shortly after I returned home. The fact that I had to go home that evening allowed me to say goodbye. If I had made it to the final, I would have been too late. Then the game and some pass questions become very unimportant.”

“I look back on the adventure as the happiest Lolo in the whole world. The only strange thing is that I can’t return to this adventure. If you have had a great trip or fun festival, you can always imagine going back there someday. And that’s not possible here. I will never experience this adventure again, and I sometimes have a hard time with that.”

Suspicious

Play4

Charlotte made it to the last four and therefore she was also suspected. Although that was never her intention. “I think you can summarize my personality in two main characteristics: I am very nonchalant and very convincing. I think you can explain those examples with that. I have never consciously played tricks on myself to make myself suspicious. That is the mole’s job.”

So all of Charlotte’s emotions were real and we mainly got to see them in last week’s episode. In the car after the bidding, it all became a bit too much for Charlotte. “Yes, at that moment homesickness, fatigue and stress took over for a while. But I only show my emotional side with people for whom I feel a lot of love. That certainly says something about how close the bond is with my fellow candidates.” Fortunately, that disappointment was short-lived, because later in the same episode we saw a huge blowout during paintballing. “Indescribable. When I see those images I become instantly happy. What a relief! People pointed out to me that Stéphanie was playing a clever game there with her mole book, but that doesn’t matter at all. I will forever remember that moment as a beautiful group victory. And that may also include the mole. (laughs) A victory for all five of us.”

So the paintball assignment was clearly a highlight for Charlotte, but not the only one. “In addition to the paintball assignment, for me this is the visit from Belgium. I had lived for it, and it really has become a unique memory for my mom and I. And what I would also like to call a highlight is the candidate group. You can see that in the episodes too, I think. And I am also very happy with the Behind the scenesseries by Kelly on GoPlay, so that the beautiful moments behind the scenes are also on screen.”

hoarse voice

In the first episodes, Charlotte suffered from a hoarse voice and that actually had more to do with what she did before her participation than what happened in Sicily. “I really had not prepared myself at all for my participation. I get that question a lot, but I just let it happen to me. And I relied on my good people skills. Before leaving, I spent a week in Barcelona with my best friends, so I didn’t have time to prepare or get nervous. Less than 12 hours after I was back in Belgium, I left for… The mole. That is also the reason why I am in the
had a rather hoarse voice in the first episodes (laughs).”

But also The mole was tiring. “Join The mole is quite intense and on a mental level you always have to keep things in perspective. And certainly not become paranoid, which is the case with some other candidates
was the case. Physically it also affects your clothes, because you also have to make sure that you get enough sleep. Not easy if you just want to have a drink with the group after a long day. But you always have to get up early the next day. That does weigh in after a while.”
