To activate the very last non-working people and take other measures to help our companies reach people, prominent bodies such as the Province of Limburg, VDAB Limburg and POM Limburg have joined forces. They put no less than 50 million euros on the table to optimize the labor market in Limburg.

What else can we do to fill the multitude of vacancies and ensure that everyone makes themselves useful in the labor market? With these principles in mind, VDAB Limburg (with Minister of Labour, Jo Brouns), the Province of Limburg and POM Limburg have drawn up an action plan with 12 objectives, such as encouraging STEM training, activating the long-term ill, and attracting people over 50 to shortage professions. , language training for foreigners, strengthening the social economy, and so on. To achieve all this, a budget of 50 million euros has been made available.

“This structural collaboration offers the certainty that we will get even more people working in Limburg,” says Flemish Minister Jo Brouns, who, like the parties involved, wants to increase the employment rate to 76%. Tom Vandeput, deputy for Economy and chairman of POM Limburg, puts it this way: “Figures show that groups such as the low-skilled and people between 55-64 years old have difficulty developing a sustainable career. A lot of progress is still possible here.” Joris Philips, director of VDAB Limburg, adds: “A major additional challenge is the aging of the population. Appropriate actions are needed to accommodate the large outflow. Collaboration is the key to success to ensure this. that Limburg takes a lead and sprints towards the leading group. If Flanders reaches the employment rate of 80%, this will be partly thanks to Limburg.”
