The working area of the Antwerp Police Zone will expand from January 1, 2025 due to the merger with Borsbeek. To take on the additional tasks, the zone is looking for officers from within and outside the police.

When Borsbeek becomes the tenth district of Antwerp, the city’s border expands. The working area of the East region will increase for the Antwerp Police Zone. To take on the additional tasks in Borsbeek, the police zone is looking for additional staff.

Last week it organized a job bar for those interested. But people who already work within the police can also indicate that they want to move to the Borsbeek region. Internally, they have until Friday, April 26 to submit their candidacy for the Eastern region.

It is therefore not the case that the Minos police zone, where Borsbeek will get off, will directly transfer a number of officers to Antwerp. “The officers can choose for themselves whether they want to make the transition to the city. Some move, some don’t. In our team of community police officers, someone goes to Boechout and Wijnegem. In addition, some police officers are retiring,” says Borsbeek mayor Dis Van Berckelaer (Everyone Borsbeek). (fisp)
