Well-known Boom bus driver caught removing hundreds of kilos of cocaine in the port of Antwerp (Antwerp)

The investigating judge in Antwerp has arrested three men who were caught red-handed with the removal of several hundred kilos of cocaine on Monday evening at quay 1742. One of them is Rocky K., a well-known bus driver from Boom.

The facts date from Monday evening, shortly before 9 p.m. A number of employees at ‘the garage’, where the container terminal vehicles are maintained and repaired, had seen a number of suspicious figures hanging around between the container stacks.

When the security services arrived on the scene, some suspicious people tried to flee. Two drivers of shuttle buses, which transport dock workers on the quay, were arrested on the spot. One of them is Rocky K. (44), a well-known bus driver who launched café New Memories a few years ago. K., together with another shuttle driver, is suspected of being involved in the extraction operation on the quay.

Part of the shipment of cocaine that had to be removed was still on the quay. “It concerns approximately 280 kilos of cocaine,” said prosecutor’s office spokesman Kristof Aerts.

Suspect turns himself in

The third suspect, a security employee, was able to flee from the quay in his vehicle. Later, the 19-year-old security employee turned himself in at the headquarters of the Antwerp Police Zone in Berchem. The vehicle with which he fled was also found in Berchem. According to rumors in the Antwerp drug community, the extractors were able to save at least half of the cocaine shipment.

The fact that shuttle bus drivers appear in major drug files is exceptional, but not entirely surprising. As drivers, they drive up and down the quays to take dock workers to their workplace, or to take workers from their workplace to the canteen. In Monday evening’s story, the shuttle buses allegedly smuggled a number of people out onto the quay, with the cooperation of the security officer.
