Antwerp alderman Jinnih Beels (Vooruit) has had a tattoo. “And no, it is not an April Fool’s joke,” assures the politician. With this, in addition to spending more time with her family, she ticks off one of her good intentions for this year.

At the beginning of January we asked about the personal intentions of the members of the Antwerp Aldermen. In addition to “seizing the day, seizing opportunities and making more time for my family and friends,” Beels had set himself the sporting goal of completing the Dodentocht.

But she also expressed a somewhat striking wish: to get a tattoo. “It will be my first and I already know which tattoo, but I will keep that to myself for a while,” the Antwerp alderman of Vooruit said in January. Now, the day after she announced her retirement from municipal politics, she has effectively put her artistic intention into action. However, Beels did not want to reveal what meaning lies behind the ink work.
