Esen/Kortemark

A 28-year-old woman was seriously injured in a traffic accident in Esen (Diksmuide) on Thursday afternoon. The woman left the road in her Porsche and hit a tree head-on. She was taken to hospital.

The traffic accident occurred around 5 p.m. on Roeselarestraat in Esen. “A 28-year-old woman from Kortemark drove her Porsche in the direction of Diksmuide,” says commissioner Rafael Rondelez of the Polder zone. “For some unknown reason she veered off the road. She first drove through the grass edge for a while but then hit a tree at high speed. The blow was very heavy. The woman could be helped out of the car and was lying on the ground when emergency services arrived. She was still conscious but was seriously injured. The woman was taken to the AZ Delta in Rumbeke out of danger.” (Read more below the photo)

Heavy impact

One lane was closed for a long time due to the accident. The fire brigade installed the necessary signaling and had to clear a lot of debris and leaked engine fluids from the road. The Porsche may be ripe for the scrap heap. Considering the particularly heavy impact on the tree, and the damage to the trunk, the woman is fortunate that she was driving a sturdy car and survived the accident.
