The international match is over. The Red Devils played two draws against Ireland and England. Philippe Albert sees that one player has made his way into the starting line-up.

Debast in the base?

Zeno Debast was allowed to start against England and did quite well. He didn’t excel, but he still held his own well. Philippe Albert thinks he will start at the European Championships.

“Debast scored points against England. He had some difficulty in the beginning, but was present in the matches afterwards and also made a number of interesting defensive actions,” says Albert. RTBF. He saw that Jan Vertonghen and Arthur Theate had more difficulty.

Faes the victim?

Albert thinks that Debast will win the argument against Wout Faes. “Debast has done his job well. He has been very consistent this season, except against Kortrijk ten days ago. I think he is gaining momentum. We have to take advantage of the automaticity between the two Anderlecht players,” he added.

He believes that the Belgians should not underestimate their opponents in the group stage at the European Championship. “We will have to field the best possible eleven and Debast is one of them. I think he should be a starting player.”

For the time being it is a matter of who will start: Debast or Faes. It will become clear in June who will start. Then practice matches against Montenegro and Luxembourg will take place before the European Championship.
