Three people were injured in a major brawl in the Brussels municipality of Schaarbeek on Wednesday evening. One of the three victims suffered head injuries, but none of them are in danger of life. This is reported by the local police of the Brussels North zone (Schaerbeek/Evere/Sint-Joost-ten-Noode). The cause and circumstances of the fight are still unclear. There would be no link with the recent tensions between the Kurdish and Turkish communities, the police said.

“Our teams were called around 8:30 PM for a major fight in the area of Marbotinstraat, Haachtsesteenweg and Schaarbeekse Haardstraat,” says police spokesperson Audrey Dereymaeker. “On the spot it turned out to be a fight involving about fifteen people. Three people were injured, one of them to the head, but none of them are in danger of life.”
The three victims have been taken to hospital while police investigate the cause and circumstances of the fight. Various witnesses will be interviewed and images from surveillance cameras in the area will be analyzed. No details are known at this time about any arrests.
