Tourism Flemish Brabant launched the 4the edition of the ‘ParkenParade’. In this way she once again puts the green and colorful character of the castles, parks and gardens of the Green Belt in the spotlight. This spring campaign takes place from April to June this year and marks the start of the new tourist season.
“In the spring we like to put the most colorful region in the country in the spotlight,” says Gunther Coppens, deputy for tourism. “The spring concept ‘ParkenParade’ returns at the start of the Easter holidays and lasts until the first weekend of July. With this concept we work together with local entrepreneurs, volunteers and residents to further promote this strong tourism story.”
Castles, parks and gardens of the Green Belt are a must see in Flanders
This year, Tourism Flemish Brabant is once again choosing the castles, parks and gardens in the Green Belt. In this green region around Brussels, top tourist attractions such as the Groot-Bijgaarden castle, Gaasbeek Museum Garden, Meise Botanical Garden, the Coloma rose garden and the Groenenberg castle domain in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, as well as numerous ‘hidden pearls’, take part.
“We noticed that the wide range of ParksParade provided an incentive for park and garden lovers who also stayed an extra night in one of the many B&Bs in the region. Garden tourism is on the rise and we want to put the region on the map by 2024 as the must see for parks and gardens,” says deputy Gunther Coppens. “
The ‘ParkenParade’ is a feel-good spring concept that focuses on mental resilience. By going outside, enjoying the first rays of sunshine and relaxing, you strengthen your inner resilience.

“We want to offer a sustainable experience with respect for the environment within the sacred character of our beautiful parks,” says deputy Gunther Coppens
Connecting tourists, entrepreneurs and residents through small-scale activities

Tourism Flemish Brabant has once again developed a broad collaboration with municipalities, residents, place holders, entrepreneurs and media partners for this campaign.

“We therefore believe that local and tourist interests can perfectly coincide,” concludes deputy Gunther Coppens. “Developing tourism in a creative and sustainable way is the future.”

“Our municipality is also participating,” says Marleen De Kegel, councilor for tourism of Sint-Pieters-Leeuw. “We see opportunities in this campaign to emphasize the green and colorful character of our municipality and organize numerous inspiring activities to this end.”
