Anyone who makes the bridge or can take leave on Friday can rub their hands: we are in for a wonderful extended Ascension weekend. After a bit of a diesel start tomorrow, on Ascension Day itself, spring will roar into action for several days. We will get a lot of sun until Sunday and the temperatures will climb a little higher every day. Did someone say 23 degrees?

LOOK. Last night’s weather forecast with weatherman Frank Duboccage: “The Ascension weekend looks good”

Today/Wednesday let’s ignore it for now. After all, the day starts with gray weather, and it is only sometime in the afternoon that the sun can break through the cloud cover. It remains almost dry, except for a few local splashes of rain. The maximum temperatures are between 13 and 14 degrees at the sea and 17 degrees in Belgian Lorraine, the RMI reports.

But then it happens: “From Thursday, a high-pressure area will really settle north of our country, so we can probably expect quite a bit of sun in the afternoon on Ascension Day,” says weatherman Frank Duboccage. “And also on Friday, Saturday and The same high-pressure area will determine our weather picture on Sunday.”

20 degrees and more

A nice situation to be in, because it means that no Atlantic disturbance can reach us and we have very calm weather. There can always be some morning gray, but it soon becomes sunny with some more cumulus clouds during the day. They certainly can’t spoil the fun: “From Thursday we will go to 19 degrees and from Friday we will have temperatures of 20 degrees or more, with temperatures on Sunday even reaching around 23 degrees.” Even the weatherman beams at such beautiful prospects: “Wonderful weather, spring is on its way anyway!”

Overview

Thursday In many places in Lower and Central Belgium, the day starts gray with low clouds and/or fog. It is quite sunny in the Ardennes. After the morning gray lifts, things get better. “Thursday, Ascension Day, starts gray, but it soon becomes sunny. Especially after noon,” says Duboccage. It is also getting a bit warmer. The maximum temperatures are around 16 degrees at the sea and in the High Fens and between 17 and 19 degrees elsewhere.

Friday we will get a mix of sun and cumulus clouds. The maximum temperatures climb a little further: temperatures are around 18 degrees in the High Fens and 20 or 21 degrees in Lower Belgium.

Saturday we get alternating sunny periods and cloud fields. And another degree can be added. The maximum temperatures then fluctuate around 21 or 22 degrees.

Sunday it is sunny at first, later some cumulus clouds. Sunday will be the warmest day: the maximum temperatures are between 21 and 23 or 24 degrees.

Then the spring engine starts to sputter again. “After the weekend the chance of showers increases. It will be a bit cooler again.”
