There’s no escaping Irish bands these days. AFF also has one. The Murder Capital will headline the festival site next to C-mine next summer.
The Absolutely Free Festival is an outlier: festival prices are increasing everywhere, but in Genk you can still enter for free, provided you hand over a number of used batteries at the entrance.

The festival will announce the first five names that will play on the C-mine site on August 2 and 3. On the menu: the Irish post-punks of The Murder Capital, the sometimes poppy and sometimes whimsical guitars of the American Sheer Mag, the heavier but also soaring guitars of the American Hotline TNT and the ingenious and infectious pop of the Canadian Ghostwoman. Wixcakes is a new Limburg band with members of The Sore Losers and The Love. They open the festival.
Just like last year, you can stay overnight at the campsite again. The capacity has doubled. Camping costs 20 euros per night or 40 for the entire weekend. Anyone who buys drink vouchers in advance pays 2.8 euros for a beer. Order online until July 31 via absolutelyfreefestival.be. (crude)
