Zzzingrid makes a CD and supports Pink Ribbon and ParkinsonNL

--

Ingrid de Witte-van de Langerijt is terminally ill. In recent months she has converted her singing skills to a CD; the proceeds go to Pink Ribbon and ParkinsonNL.

Zzzingrid’s CD, soon ready for sale.

‘In the Corona year 2020, I was diagnosed with breast cancer through the population screening. I fought through that well, terrified that I could also get Corona. I have had the whole range: surgery, radiation, chemo with the known side effects. Unfortunately, this did not help, because in August 2023 I turned out to be terminally ill,’ says Ingrid, now 55 years old. According to the RIVM, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among Dutch women. About 1 in 7 women in the Netherlands will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Every year, more than 3,000 women die from breast cancer in the Netherlands (in 2021: 3,059 women). Women are more likely to develop breast cancer after the age of 50. 80% of women with breast cancer are over 50 years old. ‘Too many young women in my area have died from this nasty disease in recent years. And that is why I think there should be more research into breast cancer. By the way, there are also men who have breast cancer.’

Parkinson’s

The choice for Pink Ribbon is logical, but also that of ParkinsonNL: ‘My husband was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease one day before his 46th birthday, now 13 years ago. A progressive disease that affects more and more people, including younger and younger people. The disease has a debilitating effect on your movement mechanism, but also on your mind and metabolism. Many people think it’s just shivering. More research also needs to be done into this nasty disease. Parkinson’s is the fastest growing brain disease in the world.’

Ingrid has sung a lot and given performances in and around Oisterwijk. She had a big wish: ‘To make a CD with a selection of what I have sung over the years. All proceeds will benefit Pink Ribbon and ParkinsonNL. I’m not going to get anything out of it myself. In fact. It costs me money. I have sung in different bands for years, sang weddings, done backing vocals and sung solo.’ The studio recordings have already been completed and the CD cover is also waiting to be printed. ‘I would like to thank Patrick Schouten from SSR Studio for this, because he wanted to participate in Project Zzzingrid with all understanding and without any doubt. The photos for the front and inside were taken completely selflessly by FotoGalerie Angelique from Udenhout.’

Anyone who wants to reserve a CD from Zzzingrid for a fee of 15 euros and thereby support both charities at the same time, can respond via Messenger (private message) to the Facebook account Ingrid de Witte (click here). Please include your name, address and email address. You will be notified as soon as the CD is ready.

Ingrid thanks you very much!
