CelebritiesTake That made many women’s hearts beat faster in the 90s – but not everywhere in the world. So their success in America did not materialize. Although they did everything they could in the United States: a photo shoot on the beach of Miami was supposed to make the American public fall in love with Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow and co, but a certain body part threw a spanner in the works. This is what photographer Janet Macoska, who is now sharing the photos, tells ‘Mirror’.

Gary Barlow (53), Robbie Williams (50), Jason Orange (53), Mark Owen (52) and Howard Donald (55) did a photo shoot in 1993 that was supposed to help them break through in the US. In the photos, the musicians look tanned on the beach in Miami. They wear tight swimming trunks and splash in the sea. Janet also knows why the boy band seemed so relaxed in the photos at the time: “They were excited to be in America. I think they enjoyed not being recognized or chased by girl groups. So for them it felt a bit like a holiday.”

Although fans would have been happy with the beach photos of their favorite band, they were never published. Not because of a lack of interest, but because of singer Howard’s nipple piercings, the photos were not printed in American teen magazines. His nipple piercings should have been faded. “The band was new and the magazines didn’t want to spend money to cover up Howard’s piercing,” Janet recalls.

30 years later, the images from the photo shoot are released. This is because Janet remembered her that day when she watched the Netflix documentary about Robbie Williams. “Now, at least 20 years later, the band’s fans can unleash themselves on their idols and on their bare torsos,” she said.
