Electric BMW i4 gets new engine version with almost 550 kilometers

The BMW 4-series Coupé and Convertible were subtly updated at the beginning of this year and now it is the turn of the 4-series Gran Coupé and i4 to show themselves to the world in a modernized guise. Anyone who has still not been able to get used to the large kidney grille on the 4-series and its mainly closed equivalent on the i4 will not immediately like the refreshed versions. The grille remains, although the M440i Gran Coupé replaces the mesh with a set of kidney grilles containing horizontal slats. In addition, the design of the kidney grille of the BMW i4 has also been subtly revised.

The headlights are more striking. Both the 4-series Gran Coupé and the electric i4 get new headlights, which have a new light signature. It is done with the double C-shaped elements of the LED daytime running lights. They make way for narrower, more vertically oriented elements. More news in the field of lighting: models with the optional Comfort Access visually welcome you with new light animations. BMW also subtly adjusts the appearance of cars with M decoration and brings, among other things, new wheels and the new paint colors Cape York Grün and Fire Rot to the 4-series Gran Coupé and i4. The curved displays behind the steering wheel remain, after all, the 4-series Gran Coupé already received them and the i4 was born with them. There are newly designed illuminated ventilation grilles, new types of seat upholstery and the infotainment system software has been revised.

The BMW 4-Series Gran Coupé will again be available as the 374 hp M440i (xDrive), a mild-hybrid machine. The mild-hybrid 420d and 430d also return. Petrol versions 430i and 420i still have to do without mild hybrid assistance. All 4-series Gran Coupé have an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission.

BMW i4

The BMW i4 will get an engine version. It was already available as a rear-wheel drive eDrive35 and eDrive40 and as a four-wheel drive M50 xDrive. The xDrive40 has now been added, a four-wheel drive variant that is not an M Performance model like the M50 xDrive. The BMW i4 xDrive40 has two electric motors that together produce 401 hp and 600 Nm, making it significantly more powerful than the rear-wheel drive eDrive40 (340 hp). The i4 xDrive40 reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in 5.1 seconds. Its range: up to 548 kilometers. It is not the variant with the longest range, that remains the eDrive40 (600 kilometers).
