Stephanie Clerckx, former model and PR manager at Deceuninck Quick-Step Cycling Team, has announced that she is pregnant. At the same time, she shows on Instagram the difficult IVF process she went through to become pregnant.

“Almost two years ago I became pregnant naturally, but it ended in an ectopic pregnancy. I had to have surgery to remove my fallopian tube. One fallopian tube was gone and my other fallopian tube turned out to be bad. It was advised to start IVF,” Clerckx writes on Instagram. “We did that, thinking that I would be an easy case because I got pregnant naturally so quickly… The reality is different!”

“I learned so much about the female body during this process. Although there were many tears and pain, I thought it was the most interesting journey ever”

“I had never heard of AMH, which is a hormone that reflects your egg cell reserve. So having a low AMH is not ideal, but having a very low AMH like me is really not good!”, she continues. “So with that reality check, but with very high expectations, we began the incredibly difficult, uncertain journey of IVF. I learned so much about the female body during this process and although there were many tears and pain, I thought it was the most interesting journey ever!”

“Finally”

“After two years, two miscarriages and moments when everything just felt hopeless, we are finally here.” With that message, Clerckx shows the many doctor visits, medication and tears that were part of the process. She also thanks the medical team at UZ Brussels for “making their dreams come true”. “Your professionalism and expertise paved the way for our miracle.”

Clerckx had a relationship with former actor Guy Van Sande in the past, but they broke up at the end of 2009. That year, the ex-model also made her breakthrough in the TV world with the TV program Tour de Femme, in which she was allowed to follow the riders of the Quick-Step team during the Tour de France. She is now PR manager at Deceuninck Quick-Step Cycling Team.

Clerckx and her new partner are expecting their child in October 2024.
