France decided on Sunday to raise the threat level, the so-called Vigipirate Plan, to the highest level, after the attack in Moscow that killed at least 143 people. That attack was claimed by the terrorist organization IS.

“The Polish Armed Forces will join the international coalition set up by France to support the preparation and security of the 2024 Summer Olympics,” Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said on the social network X, without specifying the number of soldiers deployed.

“A task force consisting of our soldiers, including sniffer dogs, will be deployed in Paris. The main purpose is to detect explosives and conduct counter-terrorism operations,” the minister added.

The French Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday that other countries are sending military personnel to help with security for the Olympic Games this summer. “Several foreign nations will strengthen us in certain critical areas,” it said. Among other things, the shortage of sniffer dogs was mentioned.
