In ‘Sing Again’, VTM gives the greatest singing talents who have presented themselves during talent shows over the years a second chance. From former winners of ‘Idool’ or ‘The Voice’ to ex-participants in ‘K2 seeks K3’: they are all reviewed. Although we can really expect a dose of nostalgia in the next episode, because none other than Jelle Van Dael, the singer with Lasgo for many years, takes her chance again.
Jelle Van Dael was the frontwoman of Lasgo for twelve years. She became that after winning the JIM competition ‘Let’s Go Lasgo’ on TV. She then went her own way and became a solo artist. Now, sixteen years after her first audition, she is once again taking her chance in front of the jury of ‘Sing Again’. Of course she does this with the same song from back then, which immediately became one of Lasgo’s biggest hits: ‘Something’. And that not only creates a lot of nostalgia, but also pure ambiance.
It is therefore clear that all jury members know well enough who Jelle is. Hadise cannot even control herself from singing along loudly and Nina De Man and guest jury member Gustaph also do not sit still in their seats. After her magnificent performance, the singer says that she wants to revive her own career.
“I did Lasgo for 12 years, from 2008 until just when corona started,” she says. ‘We have really come a long way: Brazil, America, Australia, Scandinavia, … Afterwards I went my own way and now it is solo as Jelle Van Dael. Time to tell my own story.’
In addition to Jelle, the jury members can also enjoy some other old acquaintances in this episode, including Youssri Mejdoubi from ‘Belgium’s Got Talent’ and Lola Obasuyi who you may remember from ‘The Voice van Vlaanderen’.
