Leidschendam – The fourth De Boer Maatwerk in Kitchens Top-12 tournament was played at VVV on Saturday. In the final, Milo de Boer defeated Belgian Nicolas Schenkel, against whom he had lost in the group. A festive moment because the tournament coincided with the 75th anniversary of VVV.

Milo de Boer is a striking winner. He is the talented son of former Dutch champion Michel de Boer, who had previously won the Top-12. It is unique that father and son both win this tournament. In the run-up to the final, the semi-finals were exciting. Joey Boekkooi took on Milo and the first game was immediately close: 18-16 in extra time. Only the fifth and final game brought a win for De Boer. The other semi-final was also exciting: Pieter van den Berg only capitulated at 11-9 in the fifth game against Nicolas Schenkel.

The final was therefore a Netherlands-Belgium between two young players.

Milo won 4-0 but that was anything but obvious. Nicolas had won all his matches, including the one against Milo. However, the matches in the group and semi-final took their toll on the Belgian. As a result, Nicolas no longer reached his maximum level and Milo won convincingly.

The big winner was the audience, thanks to the great atmosphere.
