Sailors Lambriex and Van de Werken extend world title in 49er class | NOW

The Dutch sailing duo Bart Lambriex and Floris van de Werken extended their world title in the 49er class on Monday. Even before Monday evening’s medal race, the pair secured the gold off the coast of Halifax in Canada.

At the end of last year, Lambriex and Van de Werken also became world champions in Oman. During that tournament, the Dutch only formed a sailing duo for a few months.

During the penultimate race on the final day, the conditions were not good for the sailors. The Dutch duo did not appear so mediocre this week. Lambriex and Van de Werken hadn’t had any bad races until the final day, so they still secured the victory.

Lambriex formed a duo with Pim van Vugt during the Tokyo Olympics. In Tokyo, this couple finished in sixth place in the general classification after the medal race.

During this World Cup, Van Vugt forms a duo with Scipio Houtman, who will not compete for the medals during this World Cup.
