A shopping cart is on average 12.33 percent more expensive than a year ago. Mustard, spaghetti, maintenance products and butter in particular have become considerably more expensive, Test-Achats concludes. The consumer organization compared the prices of about 3,000 products in supermarkets with those of a year ago.

Dairy products costs now 17% more than a year ago, mainly young (gouda) cheese (+27%), semi-skimmed milk (+24%), yoghurt and eggs (+16%), but also ground emmental (+15%).

In the fish– and meat department you now pay on average 14% more than in August 2021. Gray shrimp (+33%), cod fillet (+22%) and poultry, among others, became a lot more expensive (+20%).

In front of groceries you pay on average 13% more than a year ago. The biggest climbers are mustard (+36%), spaghetti (+35%), frying oil (+26%), coffee (+21%), mayonnaise (+21%), flour (+20%), rice (+14). %) and strawberry jam (+13%). It may come as a consolation that chocolate rose only 4% in price.

Maintenance products are now on average 13% more expensive. Notable risers are dishwasher tablets (+24%), all-purpose cleaners (+16%) and toilet cleaners (+15%).

For processed meats and animal feed (+12%) and frozen products (+10%) the increase is close to the general price increase. The increase for vegetables (+5%) and fruit (+4%) remained limited.
