HOOGERHEIDE – Today, Mayor Adriaansen presented eight residents of Woensdrecht with a Royal Decoration during the General Occasion 2024, also known as the Ribbon Rain. The third person who was surprised this day is Stan Jansen (68) from Hoogerheide, just at his home.

Mr. Stan Jansen, appointed Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau, is a household name within the municipality of Woensdrecht in the field of cycling. Since 2000 he has been involved in the organization of all kinds of local cycling events. At RSC De Zuidwesthoek he has been voluntarily active for about 20 years in the positions of trainer, treasurer, secretary and chairman. He also worked hard for the cycling track that was built at the ZuidWestHoek College. He is also known for his tireless efforts for young people. He makes them enthusiastic about cycling, mountain biking and cyclo-cross in an accessible way. He has had many professional cyclists under his wing, of which world champions Thalita de Jong and Mathieu van der Poel are good examples.

On behalf of the Woensdrechtse Bode, congratulations on this Royal Award!
