The search for names of gold and diamond bridal couples that appeared in the newspaper thirty to fifty years ago is coming to an end. In the last call, a choice was made for probably the oldest recording in this series from the photo archive of Brabants Centrum, which can also be found online via www.beeldbankboxtel.nl. Who knows the couple and can tell about it? Email responses to [email protected].
The section started at the end of September 2022. This happened after Christ van Eekelen from Heemkunde Boxtel digitized the analogue photo archive of Brabant Center had scanned a series of portraits of couples celebrating a wedding anniversary. It was not known who was portrayed in all the photos. Hence this search.
SEVENTY WEDDING COUPLES
In seventy episodes, almost all missing names were traced, complete with the date on which the wedding anniversary was celebrated. Based on this, the editors were able to find the original article that had once been published in the bound volumes, the so-called newspaper markers. It brought back beautiful and often surprising memories. They were often supplemented with anecdotes provided by family. All articles can be read via this newspaper’s website.
BRABANTSE POFFER
The top photo shows a bridal couple in old Meierijse farmer’s costumes. The woman shows off a so-called poffer. It will be a challenge to uncover any information about the couple. But… no shot is always missed.
MONTHS GOLD
In the standing photo (left) that was published last week, shows Piet van Ruremonde (73) and his wife Antje van Breugel, who is two years older, from Gemonde. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Thursday, June 2, 1977, together with three children and supporters and five grandchildren. That same day their photo appeared in this newspaper. At that time, the bridal couple lived for a year in one of the retirement homes on Gasthuisstraat, the rest of their married life took place on Kruisstraat in the church village.
