Borussia Dortmund can go to Wembley again. 11 years after the lost final of the Champions League against Bayern Munich in the English football temple, it will get a second chance in London on June 1. Dortmund also defeated PSG in the return, which lacked a touch of magic and luck, hit the goal frame 4 times (!) and thus saw its dream shattered again.

PSG – Borussia Dortmund in a nutshell:

  • Key moment: PSG immediately looked for the equalizer after tea, but gave up the lead after 5 minutes in the second half. On a well-placed corner kick from Brandt, Hummel’s mother soul could only head the ball in, an ice-cold shower for the French. This perhaps allowed the Germans to go just that little bit deeper.
  • Man of the match: Mats Hummels proved that his old boys can certainly still handle this level. The defender headed his men into the lead and was a tower of strength at the back. Without making any mistakes, he took the victory like a true leader.
  • Statistics: 14. That’s how many times PSG has hit the target frame this Champions League campaign, a record. In this match alone, the post and crossbar stood in the way no fewer than 4 times. Unbelievable but true, it was not to be for the Parisians.

Pale PSG against a strong block from Dortmund

A place in the final. That was the stakes in the Parc des Princes tonight.

Borussia Dortmund started the second leg with a small advantage, while Paris Saint-Germain could count on the vocal support of the home fans. Was it a second final for Mbappé and co or the third for Dortmund?

In the opening quarter it was mainly a fight for every piece of ground in midfield.

The Borussen gave possession of the ball to PSG and played strongly from the block. The Parisians found no answer, the greatest opportunity was on the other side.

On a German counter, the fast Adeymi suddenly crossed the field. The rush hour steamed like an express train towards Donnarumma, who saved the furniture for his team with a fantastic save.

In contrast, PSG scored two pale attempts from Dembele and Vitinha. They could never really threaten Kobel’s cage.

Work in progress for coach Luis Enrique, who saw his men acting very “bleu”.
