Russia: Ukraine fires US missiles at Crimea

Ukraine has again fired missiles into the Crimean peninsula annexed by Russia. This was announced by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Moscow says air defenses downed four American-made Atacms projectiles. The statement cannot be verified by independent authorities. Kiev has not yet confirmed the attack.

On Tuesday, Ukraine also carried out rocket attacks on Crimea. According to independent media, the Russian army’s air defense systems were targeted and several casualties were suffered. Russia uses Crimea for the supply of weapons, ammunition and soldiers. Ukraine is trying to counter this with attacks on military targets on the peninsula.

The US announced last month that it would supply Ukraine with longer-range Atacms missiles. These missiles can hit targets from a distance of 300 kilometers, but when previously delivered to Kiev, that range was limited to 165 kilometers.
