The police have arrested a 50-year-old man from Tiel in the investigation into the deceased woman who was found on Saturday in a house on Nieuwendijk in Amsterdam Center.
The man, who was arrested on Sunday early in the evening in the Gelderland town of Tiel, is suspected of having killed the woman.
The body of the victim, a 56-year-old woman, was found in the home under suspicious circumstances on Saturday around 5 p.m. The police suspected foul play and deployed a large-scale criminal investigation team to investigate. A police spokesperson does not yet want to reveal what the relationship is between the suspect and the victim. The man has yet to be interviewed by the police. The police have not yet said how the woman died.
The police emphasize that it is still important that people with information or camera images come forward. “We want to collect as much evidence as possible,” said a police spokesperson.
