The non-profit organization Oranjehuis from Heule has been nominated for the Poverty Exclusion from Welfare Care Award. The winner will be announced on May 30.

Welfare Care is awarding the Poverty Exclusion Award for the 25th time. This year, Welfare Care awards organizations that stand up for the rights of people who are homeless. Five organizations were nominated, including the non-profit organization Oranjehuis from Heule.

The Oranjehuis was founded in 1971 as a residential youth care facility. With their project Back on Track they guide young people between the ages of 17 and 25 who are homeless. They empower young people during a guidance process and set up collaborations with housing partners and housing associations. Young people are also prepared for the labor market. And by offering container homes, a temporary housing solution is also provided. Over the past four years, Back On Track has guided 175 young people who were homeless to get to know each other.

The Poverty Elimination Prize will be awarded on May 30. The laureate receives the bronze statue De Levensloop and 20,000 euros to invest.
