Wateringen 30.04.2024 – The nature association Natural Westland is organizing various activities in the coming months around the subject of Westland trees are worth their weight in gold.
There are three activities in May
– On Wednesday, May 15, there will be an interactive stall in the Hofpark in Wateringen from 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM. Information is provided about the trees in Westland and in particular which trees look best in a garden or balcony, with the question: Which tree suits me?
– Monday, May 20 (Whit Monday), there will be an excursion in the Hofpark in Wateringen from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
The theme is: How do trees respond to their environment and to damage? 20 people can participate in this excursion. Registration required via email:[email protected]
After registration, each participant will receive a confirmation with further details.
During the excursion we look at how the trees in the Hofpark adapt to circumstances. We discover through our own observation and explanation from the guide how special trees are. Participants are invited to share their experiences about trees with each other, because all Wateringen trees are worth their weight in gold!
– My favorite tree Natural Westland calls on residents of Westland to report their favorite tree. Send a photo of this tree to:[email protected] with a story, a poem, a photo, a song, or a drawing or something else. Also state the location where the tree is located in Westland. A favorite tree can also be registered at the information booth. Each month a winner will be chosen from all entries; this one will receive a gift. The winning tree will be published in the media. A resident can win a prize once with the same tree. By submitting a submission, Natural Westland can use it further in its activities.
These activities are part of the Westland trees are worth their weight in gold project. Natural Westland carries out this project (made possible by the municipality of Westland) and organizes excursions, bicycle tours, Tree of the Month and information stalls. There is also a brochure coming out.
Trees are the carriers of greenery in cities and villages, not only in area and size but also in time. If the trees are in the right place, they can be the oldest residents in Westland. We observe the four seasons in the trees and we sometimes have very personal experiences. Trees also provide shelter for birds, bats and small animals under the bark. They inspire people to stories, poems and other artistic activities.
