Kom niet meer naar de stad, het is te druk, zegt gemeente Utrecht
Dat ging snel. Het is inmiddels zo druk in het centrum van Utrecht dat de gemeente mensen oproept om niet meer naar de stad te komen. “Het is te druk op meerdere evenementen en routes in onze binnenstad. Toegang tot de pleinen is niet meer mogelijk. Kom daarom niet meer naar de stad!”, zo staat in een oproep op sociale media

In een aantal grote steden stromen de straten en pleinen langzaam vol voor de vieringen in aanloop naar Koningsdag. In Utrecht was het al vroeg druk door de vrijmarkt die aan het begin van vrijdagavond startte.
“Het is te druk op meerdere evenementenpleinen in de stad”, meldt de gemeente rond 21.30 uur. De Neude is halverwege vrijdagavond vol. “Voorkom dat je voor een afgesloten plein staat en ga bijvoorbeeld naar het Domplein”, zo luidt het advies.
Ook de grote Markt in Den Haag, waar het muziekfeest The Life I Live is, loopt langzaam vol. Tassen van bezoekers worden uit voorzorg gecontroleerd bij de ingangen van het terrein, ziet een ANP-verslaggever.

Het centrum van Purmerend is tijdens Koningsnacht aangewezen als veiligheidsrisicogebied. Hierdoor krijgt de politie extra bevoegdheden, zoals preventief fouilleren en het opleggen van gebiedsverboden.
De maatregel is genomen door burgemeester Ellen van Selm omdat er onder jongeren een “zorgelijk gerucht” rondgaat op sociale media, aldus de gemeente. De politie roept op om te stoppen met het delen van het gerucht.
De regel geldt vanaf 26 april 18.00 uur tot 27 april 6.00 uur.

Royal couple opens King’s Games
The Royal Couple opened the King’s Games on Thursday at two primary schools in Hoofddorp. The games are organized at schools throughout the country one day prior to Willem-Alexander’s birthday. The King’s Games have been held since the inauguration of Willem-Alexander in 2013.
