Recognized for its significant biodiversity, Brazil is also a major fruit producer worldwide, ranking third in global production. This is due to the joint efforts of growers, associations and government agencies aimed at improving the sector.

With an increasing demand for healthy and sustainable fresh produce, Brazilian fruit has gained a prominent place in international markets. In 2023, the country’s fruit exports reached a milestone, with sales exceeding US$1.2 billion, marking an increase of 26.73% over the previous year. This performance was supported by a 6% increase in export volume, with more than one million tons of fruit.

The quality of Brazilian fruits, enhanced by investments in technology and innovation in production, harvesting, storage and transportation, plays a crucial role in maintaining their prized status in foreign markets. Brazil’s strict certification system ensures compliance with high quality and food safety standards. Efforts to enter new markets have been successful, with negotiations underway to export grapes to China and South Korea, avocados to the United States, Chile, Japan and India, and melons and apples to Malaysia.
