Puertas cheers: “Union is not dead”

24 matches without defeat. Union then suffered four consecutive defeats in Play-off 1. The away match against Antwerp had to yield three points or the title battle was over for Alexander Blessin’s team. Cameron Puertas guided Union to a 0-3 victory. The much-needed mental boost.

Two goals from Cameron Puertas, one from Mohamed Amoura, with an assist from Puertas. The energetic and ball-savvy Swiss left the field with a broad smile.

“Scoring twice, providing an assist and being decisive again: that is of course fun. But most of all I remember the victory that we have waited so long for and which ensures that we keep our destiny in our own hands,” Puertas told Sudpresse.

“We absolutely had to get back to three points, no matter how. We did that well. If that were still necessary, we have proven that we cannot be written off yet. We are not dead, no! The strength of Union is the collective and today we were efficient in both sixteen meters.”
