There will no longer be a World Cup round in the US next winter, but the organizers of the Trek US Cyclocross Series still hope to attract European riders to the US. The Trek USCX is a regularity criterion over eight heats, spread over four consecutive weekends.

The start date of the international European season has not yet been determined. Last year it only started on October 8 with the Exact Cross in Beringen. Lokeren and Kruibeke decided not to organize. “Kruibeke will not take place next season due to problems with the course,” said organizer Kurt Vernimmen. “We would like to organize in Lokeren, but we especially hope for a better date.”

So not in September. Now that the World Cup calendar has been announced, work is being done at a rapid pace on the rest of the European slash Belgian calendar. To achieve this, a few decisions still need to be made. In the meantime, the United States, which has no World Cup round on the calendar next winter, was not sitting idle. Scott Page, organizer of the US Cyclocross Series since 2021, announced his calendar yesterday. It contains eight races, spread over four consecutive race weekends. The first competition will take place in Roanoke on September 14th, and Waterloo will close the regularity criterion on October 6th. Trek is the title sponsor of the regularity criterion. There is a prize pool of fourteen thousand euros, divided equally between men and women. With this compact calendar, eight races in four consecutive weekends, the organization hopes to attract European riders to the US. Not only the prize money, but especially the coveted UCI points, could make this compact US campaign profitable. (gvdl)
