The updated Tesla Model 3 welcomes a new top model. As a Performance, the electric car has a system power of more than 460 hp (we’re guessing 515 hp), resulting in an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 262 km/h. The driving range is 528 kilometers (WLTP).
To channel that extra power, the Tesla Model 3 Performance gets forged 20-inch wheels that are wider at the rear than at the front. This sports version also benefits from high-performance brakes with red calipers and new adaptive damping technology, which is controlled via the Tesla Vehicle Dynamics Controller (VDC). The Performance also has a specific sports suspension with adjustments to both the springs and the stabilizer bars.
The new Tesla Model 3 gets a Track driving mode that adjusts the handling, stability control and regenerative braking to the driver’s personal preference via the updated user interface.
Price Performance
The Performance also looks a bit sportier, even more aggressive than the average Tesla Model 3. The body combines an aerodynamically optimized front with extra cooling slots, a diffuser under the rear bumper and a carbon wing on the trunk lid. The Warp logo that we know from the Model S Plaid is also present.
There are also changes on the inside. The Tesla Model 3 Performance gets new sports seats with improved side cushions and side bolsters for extra support for better cornering. They can also be heated and ventilated. The design details of the interior are made of carbon fiber.
In Belgium, the Tesla Model 3 Performance costs 56,970 euros. Deliveries are scheduled for this summer.
New Supercharger Network Membership
In the meantime, Tesla has also introduced a membership model for all EV drivers who want to use the Supercharger network. Tesla owners are automatically (and free of charge) members, but all owners of another electric car can also gain access to reduced Supercharger rates through a membership.
The monthly membership is reduced from 12.99 to 9.99 euros per month. Those who immediately opt for an annual formula pay 100 euros – good for a reduction of 16%. An annual membership also gives Supercharger users access to member rates. Membership-free Supercharging will continue to be available at stations accessible to all EV drivers, while Supercharging rates will continue to be updated regularly to provide affordable and fast charging for all EV drivers.
