Nicky Hayen must guide Club Brugge to a European ticket in the play-offs and hopefully advance to the Conference League. The interim coach of Club Brugge spoke to the media present at the press chat before the match against Cercle Brugge.

Winning against Cercle Brugge

Hayen talked about Club Brugge’s ambitions. Blauw-Zwart has 6 points less than RSC Anderlecht and 9 less than Union SG. Club Brugge does not want to get too excited after the weak regular season, which is logical.

We actually have to win against Cercle Brugge. Otherwise the criticism will flare up again. Hayen is of course aware of this all too well.

Don’t change everything

“Our ambition? To win the first match against Cercle Brugge. I’m not going to say that our play-offs will stand or fall with that match, but it will determine a certain direction,” the former defender said at his press chat.

There will certainly be no tabula rasa within the starting line-up. “I am certainly not going to change everything, because we did many things well. The perception that everything was bad was created by the outside world. We are going to tackle the areas that need improvement and continue to build. The boys must play with confidence again,” he said. .

Hayen does miss a strongman in Simon Mignolet. Nordin Jackers plays because of that.
