Blizzard Entertainment had already teased Venture, the 40th hero for Overwatch 2, during BlizzCon 2023, but today Venture has been fully revealed.
Venture is a DPS hero who has a huge drill. Venture can dive underground and become harmless. This is called Burrow and lets Venture move quickly around the map. Once out of the ground, Venture does a drill charge for damage. Venture also has a Smart Excavator that creates, as it were, a small-scale earthquake. Venture can also send smaller shockwaves towards enemies. There is also a Drill Dash ability that allows enemies to dash towards a group of enemies. Venture also has a handy passive. When Venture activates an ability, a temporary shield is created. Since Venture has a huge drill, this is also suitable for close range melee attacks. Venture’s Melee therefore does more damage than other characters’ melee moves.

Playable from today
Officially, Venture will be available in Overwatch 2 at the start of season 10, but this weekend gamers can test out a beta version of Venture in Quick Play mode. From tonight until Sunday evening, Overwatch 2 players can get started with Venture. Based on feedback and data, Blizzard Venture will make further tweaks if necessary before the full release on April 16 with season 10.
Venture is completely free for all players. From season 10 onwards, heroes will no longer be placed behind a Battle Pass. Everyone gets access to all 40 playable characters. Only beginning Overwatch 2 players have to do a series of missions to understand the game and heroes. The heroes are then also available for free to these people. The next hero, Space Ranger, is scheduled for season 12.
Overwatch 2 is playable for free on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch and PC.
