Several students from ROC Amsterdam-Flevoland won prizes during Skills The Finals. Thirty-five students from the ROC of Amsterdam – Flevoland qualified for the final and competed for the national title. During the final, students completed assignments in their field of expertise, which were then assessed by experts from education and business. Ranging from aspiring chefs, beauticians, CNC millers, hotel receptionists to hairdressers. “It was a fun experience to participate, but also exciting because we didn’t know what to expect. We are very proud of our podium spot!”, said winners Wessel de Wolf and Lauand Mohammed.

Gold medals

De Wolf and Mohammed from MBO College Airport can call themselves the best aircraft technicians in the Netherlands. Student Paris Koeleman, MBO College Centrum, received a gold medal in the Hostess category. Jirki Hendricks, from MBO College Westpoort, took first place in the CNC milling category for the second time in a row. Daphne Westland, from MBO College Airport, became the best flight attendant in the Netherlands.

Silver and bronze medals

In addition to the four gold medals, the students of the ROC of Amsterdam – Flevoland also received four silver and four bronze medals. Kimberley Vos from MBO College Lelystad won silver in the Stewardess category. The bronze medals went to student Sanne Klappe from MBO College Poort in the Sales Specialist category, Ezra Tetteroo in the Host category and student Elisa Vriendjes in the Pastry Chef category.

About Skills The Finals

In recent months, hundreds of MBO students have entered into the Skills competition with each other in various subject areas. Ultimately, the best talents, including thirty-five students from the ROC of Amsterdam – Flevoland, qualified for Skills The Finals. Skills The Finals took place this year in the Brabanthallen ‘s-Hertogenbosch. The ROC of Amsterdam – Flevoland has been selected as a partner school to co-organize the event in Amsterdam next year.
