Although Huawei hardly sells smartphones in our region anymore, the wearables from the Chinese manufacturer are selling like hot cakes – also in our country. At a launch event in Dubai this week, Huawei added two new models to the range: the Watch Fit 3 and the Watch 5 Pro Space Edition.

The Watch Fit 3 may look remarkably similar to the Apple Watch in terms of design, but the price tag is of a different caliber. The clock, which is available from May 22, changes hands for 159.99 and is therefore remarkably competitively priced.

Digital crown

The wearable has a 1.85-inch AMOLED screen, has a ‘thickness’ of 9.9 mm and weighs only 26 grams. The case consists of an aluminum alloy and is equipped with a working digital crown, with which you can navigate through the gadget’s options while turning. The Fit 3 is available in various color options, and of course there are also numerous (interchangeable) straps available.

In terms of monitoring, the gadget features TruSleep 4.0 technology (for a more accurate sleep score) and TruSeen 5.5 health indicators, with 30 percent more stable heart rate monitoring and the ability to check SpO2 (oxygen saturation) in just 25 seconds.

Aerospace materials

Huawei also presented a special Space Edition of its Watch 4 Pro this week. According to the manufacturer, this clock is partly made from aerospace materials, and the design is ‘inspired by the De Laval nozzle used in rockets and spacecraft’. This should be reflected, among other things, in the ceramic bezel and interactive Laval dial.

The new timepiece features TruSeen 5.5+ (for even more accurate health monitoring) and has a new feature that allows multiple basic health indicators to be tested in just sixty seconds. The target price of the Huawei Watch 4 Pro Space Edition has not yet been announced.
