Western Digital Corp. (NASDAQ: WDC) expands the SanDisk portfolio with the 8TB SanDisk Desk Drive, the highest capacity external desktop solid state drive (SSD) yet. This new storage category offers the speed and reliability of an SSD to easily backup and quickly access high-resolution photos, videos and other files in one convenient location.
The main features of the SanDisk Desk Drive:
- Available in 4TB and 8TB capacities to store photo and video collections, CAD or 3D files, large AI-generated files, music libraries and more.
- Faster access to content, even for the heaviest files like 8K videos, with read speeds of up to 1000 MB/s – up to 4x faster than a desktop HDD.
- Back up at SSD speeds using Apple Time Machine or automatically with the included downloadable Acronis True Image for Western Digital backup software.
- The compact design was awarded a Red Dot Design Award 2024.
- Works natively with Windows or macOS with exFAT formatting, using the included USB Type-C cable.
The 4TB SanDisk Desk Drive (target price $423.99) and 8TB SanDisk Desk Drive (target price $779.99) are available now from the Western Digital Store and from authorized SanDisk retailers, e-tailers and distributors.
