A petite café on the ground floor, courtyard with stained glass windows, bathroom, gallery, seating area and cupboards full of wonders. Does Diptyque also make your heart beat faster? then you want straight forward to the latest unveiling of the luxury brand in its birthplace Paris: La Maison Diptyque.

You want to see Diptyque’s new store in Paris

Around the corner from other iconic places such as Tuileries, Place de la Concorde and Hôtel de Crillon, Diptyue recently opened this enlarged new boutique. The colorful place feels like a luxurious, personal apartment whose travel-loving residents love to share their eclectic style with their guests. From the ground floor, filled with perfumes and candles, you literally step into Diptyque’s universe on the first floor via a wide marble staircase. Bazaars Miluska van ‘t Lam traveled to Rue Duphot, the address of this new place, and shares her first photos.

La Maison Diptyque: a dream house

The apartment on the first floor is furnished with all the rooms of a dream house, intended to give you an experience of what it is like to live and live with Diptyque’s candles, perfumes, care products and home accessories. Diptyque also curates works of art in various places in ‘La Maison’. In this vein, the house wants to organize several exhibitions every year and develop the place into a cultural destination.

Back to the art

A logical choice for a house whose history started with three founders who have a background in the world of art, architecture and interior design: the friends Desmond Knox-Leet, Christiane Montadre-Gautrot and Yves Coueslant. They opened in the sixties in the artistic 5e arrondissement, at Boulevard Saint Germain 34, a place where their loves for wallpaper, interior fabrics and art come together. Right next to a nightclub, which they later added to their boutique to expand it. Two glittering pillars covered with glass still remind us of this history. Just like the colorful wallpaper, the carpeting, the antique cupboards and the still intact study – not open to the public – of Desmond Knox-Leet, where we also have a bundled book with vintage editions of Harper’s Bazaar found.

La Maison Diptyque, 7 Rue Duphot, Paris. There is also a Diptyque boutique in the Netherlands: Prinsengracht 531, Amsterdam. Diptyque is also sold via skins.nl
