Google will pull the plug on Fitbit Pay on July 29, 2024. The American search giant advises customers who use the payment service to switch to the Google Wallet app.

Google writes on a support page that Google Wallet is now available for all Fitbit devices that support contactless payments. Users who want to switch from Fitbit Pay to Google Wallet can do so via the Fitbit smartphone app, according to the American company.

Emails from Fitbit users that Tweakers was able to view show that new payment cards can currently no longer be added to Fitbit Pay. It will still be possible to make electronic payments via the payment service until July 29, 2024.

Fitbit Pay has been available in the Netherlands since January 2019. Google Wallet has been available in the Benelux since 2022. The latter app was released in 2022 and was supposed to replace Google Pay. Google Wallet not only supports digital payment methods, but also loyalty cards, boarding passes and all kinds of passes.
