Beer and burger lovers in Eeklo can now enjoy the ‘Hoethoofd burger’. The dish is the result of a collaboration between café-brasserie Torenhof, Brouwerij 9900 and Carrefour Market Eeklo.
Laura Verfaillie (24), the chef at café-brasserie and party hall Torenhof, made a special burger with meat from Carrefour Market Eeklo. “We serve our Heethoofd burger between a tasty bun with homemade mustard sauce, red onions, caramelized bacon and green and white asparagus,” it says.
“The burger based on Heethoofd beer consists of a mixture of beef and pork and is flavored with a herb mixture that matches the character of the beer,” say butchers David Hellinckx (43) and Jarne De Clerck (34). from Carrefour Market Eeklo.

“We decided to immediately make it a menu,” says co-manager of Torenhof Thomas Haeck. “We serve the burger with a Heethoofd beer from Brouwerij 9900 and we also add a sabayon with a hint of the beer for dessert.”
Gilles De Beule (28) and Nathan Gryp (31) from brewery 9900 came to taste the burger menu. “The liquorice and subtle caramel note of our beer go very well with the meat of the burger, the bacon, fresh asparagus and spicy mustard sauce,” the brewers say.
The Heethoofd burger is available at café-brasserie-party hall Torenhof and at Carrefour Market Eeklo.
