‘KPN will soon also sell Google Pixels’

Android Planet reported earlier this week that Vodafone will probably officially sell Google Pixel phones. It may not stop there, because KPN has now also put a page online hinting at the sale of Pixel smartphones. Below you can see a screenshot. The page states ”The latest smartphones, soon at KPN!”, with a short overview of rumors below.

It is not clear which Pixel devices will soon be available at KPN. However, we think it concerns the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro – the search giant’s current top devices. The announcement of the cheaper Pixel 8a is expected soon, but nothing is known about this yet.

This would make KPN the third provider in the Netherlands where you can purchase a Pixel smartphone. Odido and Google have had a partnership for some time and you can also contact Belsimpel. As mentioned, Vodafone may soon start sales.

Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8a

At the end of last year, Google announced the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The successors to the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are officially available in the Netherlands and have a suggested retail price of 799 and 1099 euros respectively. This makes them a lot more expensive than their predecessors.

The Pixel 8 smartphones are distinguished by the clean Android experience and Google’s excellent update policy. The company promises to provide the phones with updates for no less than seven years. This includes Android version upgrades, security patches and so-called Feature Drops. The latter are larger updates with interim new features.

The expected Google Pixel 8a

The Pixel 8 is relatively compact at 6.2 inches and has a total of three cameras. The Pixel 8 Pro has an extra zoom camera and a better wide-angle lens. However, the phones share the same 50-megapixel main camera. The Pro is also larger (6.7 inches) and charges a fraction faster, although the differences are only small.

We expect the Pixel 8a soon, a cheaper alternative to the Pixel 8 series. The device is reportedly slightly smaller than the Pixel 8, but looks about the same. The 8a is expected to be unveiled next month during Google I/O 2024. This event will take place on Tuesday, May 14.
