Lotte Claes has just missed the long distance duathlon world title. Our 29-year-old compatriot finished second in Zofingen. In the men’s race, defending champion Seppe Odeyn had to be satisfied with fourth place.

Lotte Claes only had to recognize her superior in Switzerland in Melanie Maurer, who won the world title for her own people. Maurer, multiple Swiss duathlon champion, did not cooperate with Claes during the 144 kilometers of cycling and finished it in the running.

After a 10 kilometer run, a 144 kilometer bike ride and another 30 kilometer run, the 29-year-old Belgian finished less than five minutes from Maurer. The German Merle Bruné, defending champion, eventually completed the women’s podium.

Two-time laureate Seppe Odeyn (2016, 2021) stranded on the podium with the men. The Frenchman Matthieu Bourgeois triumphed before the German Fabian Holbach and the Swiss Michael Ott. Odeyn finished more than 3 minutes from the winner after catching up on the final running stage.
