Now that the European football season is approaching its climax and Club Brugge is the last Belgian club that has been eliminated, a new assessment of the UEFA coefficients can be made. With an annual total of 14,400 points, the Belgian teams performed better than ever. Our country thus consolidates its 8th place in the European rankings.
Our country can look back on a great season in Europe, with the historic semi-final of Club Brugge in the Conference League as a standout. And that also brightens up the European coefficient.
Belgium has never collected more coefficient points than in the past season: 14,400. Our country is doing better than the previous record season last year. Then we finished with an annual total of 14,200 points.
The five-year total, which determines the position in the European ranking, is now 48,800 points. With that number, Belgium is in 8th place, with a large lead over its first pursuers Turkey, the Czech Republic and Scotland.

The top 10 of the UEFA rankings entitles you to a direct ticket for the group stage of the Champions League. Due to our lead over the rest, our country seems to be in the safe zone for a few years.
The fact that Belgium has done so well in the rankings in recent years is undoubtedly due to the introduction of the Conference League.
The points that clubs can earn in that third European club competition are equivalent to those of the Champions League and the Europa League. Belgium has been able to benefit optimally from that system, especially in the last two years.
