Charles De Ketelaere can prepare for the final of the Europa League. The Belgian sent Lookman on his way to the opening goal against an easy Marseille. The liberating second goal came shortly after halftime. Mission accomplished for De Ketelaere, who was then allowed to take up position on the bench. This way he could save his strength for the final battle in Dublin on May 22.

- Key moment: From the first minute, Atalanta grabbed its opponent by the throat. Marseille could not catch their breath at any point, with a strong collective performance the Italians dominated from A to Z.

Both teams started the game with an open mind, although Marseille’s took that a bit too literally.

Zappacosta, Scamacca, and again De Ketelaere: they all collided with Marseille goalkeeper Pau Lopez on the way.
After half an hour, the French defense finally cracked: Lookman played one-on-one, his deflected shot fit nicely into the corner. The assist came from a busy De Ketelaere.
Atalanta went into the changing rooms with a deserved lead, the water was on the French lips.
Atalanta shows no mercy
Three minutes into the second half there was suddenly L’OM.
Clauss cleverly spooned Ndiaye through the Italian defense, Atalanta goalie Musso was in no man’s land. The Senegalese striker spotted the empty goal, but weakly lobbed the ball wide.
Not much later, Marseille was dealt a blow. Ruggeri combined nicely with Lookman, the defender smashed the double lead against the ropes.
Gasset’s pawns were spread out against the canvas. At times it was French cheese with holes at the back, substitute Touré completely sank the ship with the 3-0.
Two poor shots between the posts. Poor fare for Marseille, which could never claim a place in the final.
After the final whistle, the Atalanta supporters let off fireworks. They are in for a long party night in Bergamo, the tickets to Dublin can be booked.

Manzano saves Marseille from its misery, Atalanta will soon play its first ever European final in Dublin. With a dominant performance they easily defeated L’OM. The weak French could not claim a place in the final at any time.
The fireworks are already popping above the Gewiss Stadium, the Italian supporters are in for a long night of celebration.
